Being the Boyking of Hell was not always easy, especially since the demons were like a bunch of unruly teenagers, always joking around and not taking anything seriously. Though they learned not to test Sam too much or they would face his wrath as one unsuspecting demon did after enlarging the hellhounds to the size of a horse and placing a saddle on their backs so the demons could run races against each other in the fourth circle. They were such morons to think that it would go unnoticed by him, especially when he could hear the chanting echoing in the lower circles.

Lucifer had let out a snicker, finding amusement in their antics, but Sam had not been as impressed as his lover. The archangel had been lenient during his time as king because he simply didn’t care what his demons were up to and he had nothing to prove to them as their creator but Sam ran a tighter ship to exert his control. He needed a firm hand to get the proper respect that he deserved.

It had taken ages to get them to stop calling him Lucifer’s pet and other derogatory versions of that, little did they know who actually was in charge inside the bedroom. There may be a bit of power imbalance in their relationship but Lucifer had always declared Sam as his equal.

Lucifer always found a convenient reason to be absent from his daily audiences in the throne room with the demons, holding little interest in the proceedings. While the others had departed, Meg had lingered around afterwards, which indicated to Sam that she wanted to speak to him privately.

“What is it?” Sam sighed as he rubbed behind the ears of his favorite hellhound, Bones, who was always by his side.

“It’s June, which means that Father’s Day is coming up.” He blinks, unsure of what the importance of that day could be to her.

“So? In case you have forgotten, my father is dead.” And speaking of, his soul was MIA. Sam knew that he had gotten free from Hell when they had opened the devil’s gate but since then, nobody has been able to locate him. Escaped souls fell under reaper territory, though if Sam did stumble upon his soul on his own, he was well within his rights to drag him back to Hell.

“Why would I care about John Winchester? Though, Alistair might like to have him back on the rack. But no, silly, I was referring to Lucifer.” It was perhaps due to their shared history, in which she had possessed him and masqueraded as him for a week, that Meg felt brazen enough to not use Sam’s title or speak to him with respect. Though she only did it when they were alone so Sam felt no need to correct her.

“Let me get this straight, you want to throw a Father’s Day party for Lucifer?” Sam lets out a laugh. The archangel might have created demons by distorting the human soul but he held no love towards them as a parent. If anything, he viewed them with disdain, proof that he was right about humans being unworthy.

“I doubt that would go over well.” He adds as an afterthought.

“If you’re jealous, we can throw you a celebration on Mother’s Day.” Meg takes a jab at him.

“Meg.” Sam scowls, a blue glint flashing briefly in his eyes, telling her that she crossed the line. Though the wide smirk remains on her face even as she backs down on her witty remarks.

“Look, if you feel that passionately about it then I won’t stop you but I’m not going to get involved. To be honest, I doubt that he is going to be pleased by that.” Sam lets out a long sigh, Bones licking at his hand. And he could see Lucifer grumbling to him later about why he had not done anything to stop it. Hopefully the demons won’t do anything too offensive or Sam would have to find replacements for the ones that end up getting smited.

“No worries, moose.” Meg winked before sauntering out of the throne room.

---

“You look particularly guilty this morning. Any diabolic plans that I should worry about?” Lucifer spoke into his ear with a grin as he sidled up to Sam as he worked on straightening out his tie in the mirror.

“It’s nothing.” Sam shakes his head, smoothing the tie over his chest before turning around to face Lucifer.

“Mmm, is it?” He has a playful look on his face which tells him that he isn’t upset. One of the problems of being the lover of an archangel was that they always knew when you were lying.

“Is it about Dean?” Lucifer takes a shot in the dark as he guesses, his expression turning more serious. Ever since Sam had taken the crown of Hell, his relationship with his older brother had been tense and fractured. Dean had scorned him for choosing the Devil over his own blood but what his brother had not realized was that Sam had become the Boyking to save the world.

“I...it’s not.” Sam shakes his head firmly, frowning at the thought of Dean.

“Sam…” Lucifer cups his face lovingly and kisses him on the lips, the action causing him to close his eyes as he responds back.

“Even if Dean never comes to an understanding about the choices you made and why you made them, you will always have my support. Always.” Sam can feel his stubble scratch against his skin as he rubs his head up against his neck as if he were a cat. Lucifer’s words were comforting, they did not always see eye to eye on some issues but the archangel respected him enough to support his decisions, but even still he wanted to repair things with Dean.

“Thank you, babe.” Sam gives him a small smile. He almost feels apologetic for whatever the demons are going to make him endure for Father’s Day.

---

Sam’s audience for the day had been cancelled to allow the demons to set up the throne room as they decorated it with banners and balloons. At the base of his throne sat a pile of presents, he felt a pull of worry in his stomach at what they could possibly contain. He would not put it past them to get Lucifer something inappropriate. He hung back and watched as the demons moved with urgency.

“And how exactly are you going to lure Lucifer here?” Sam inquired to Meg, who was overseeing the efforts.

“Easy, just say that some poor fool threatened you.” She grinned and Sam just groaned, knowing how fiercely protective Lucifer was over him.

Not that Lucifer didn’t think he could hold his own. However, he refused to stand for anyone threatening Sam and think they could get away with it. Sam thought back to some of the opposition he had faced when he first took the crown, complaints over him being “too human” which had been code for being “too weak”.

One idiot demon had loudly proclaimed that he would murder Sam and take the throne for himself. Lucifer did not even give him the mercy of smiting him instantly but made an example of him by torturing him for as long as he could before he killed him.

“It’s only going to agitate him more when he finds out that you lied.” Sam hid his face behind his hands.

“Well, it’s not like he cares about anything else more than you. Besides I’m a demon, when have we ever been honest beings?” Meg rolled her eyes.

Sam let out a hysterical laugh as he saw two demons bring in a cake, setting it on a handcart in front of his throne. This whole thing was already absurd and it was only getting worse. Lucifer did not eat human food, let alone cake. It would have been better suited for Gabriel.

“You know that he’s not going to eat that cake either.”

“Obviously. It was more for us than him, it’s not like we get many opportunities to get cake down here.” He was going to laugh even harder if they happened to buy Lucifer a devil’s food cake.

“Well, we’re in Hell, what do you expect? You’re not supposed to be rewarded for your bad behavior.”

Once the demons had finished setting up their little Father’s Day celebration, Meg walked off to collect Lucifer and Sam slumped down into his throne, taking in the whole scenery. Black eyed demons walking with tiny party hats on their heads, some of which holding kazoos.

Sam jumped back against the cushion as Lucifer appears right in front of him, using his wings to fly in before Meg could run back, panic etched into his face before confusion sets in. His wings that had been flared out in aggression drooped.

“Sam?” Lucifer had called out his name softly before his voice was drowned out by the horde of demons letting out a cheer.

“Happy Father’s Day!” Lucifer’s eyebrows furrowed as he scrunched his face, his eyes darting between the demons and Sam.

“Ah, so this is why you were looking off this morning.” Lucifer leveled a look at Sam before turning his attention towards the demons, who were starting to line up to hand him presents. His face was unreadable so Sam was unable to decipher how he was feeling.

The archangel took a seat on the space at the base of the throne between Sam’s legs, giving a skeptical look as he was given the first present. He raised an eyebrow as he found himself holding a pair of women’s lingerie in pink.

“Would you please enlighten me as to what I am to do with this?” Lucifer speaks levelly as Sam flusters in embarrassment. Somewhere in the back corner, he can hear Meg let out a loud howl of laughter.

“Though it would look nice on Sam,” Lucifer mutters out in a low tone so that only Sam could hear him, causing him to bury his face behind his hands.

“It was a dare...sir.” One demon fumbles out an explanation. With a snap of his fingers, Lucifer sends the panties to God knows where.

“Right. Well then, if you think of gifting me with lingerie again, I will make you wear it and model it through all nine circles.” He says coolly.

Thankfully, the rest of the presents are not so outrageous and Sam is relieved to not have to order someone to mop up demon guts from the floor. Lucifer was standing beside Sam while they watched the demons cut the cake. Some of them became impatient so it turned into a free for all, with hands barbarically digging through the cake for a piece.

“I created them to spite my Father and have never held any sort of fatherly affection towards them. I’m at a loss why they thought this was necessary all of the sudden.” Lucifer tilts his head as he regards Sam.

“Hey, don’t look at me, this totally was not my idea. I don’t know either.” Sam shakes his head in negation. He gathered, however, that they got some sort of childish kick out of it.

That evening, Sam finds the pink lingerie sitting on top of his dresser.
